MAKING IMPACT ACROSS GENERATIONS

Most promises made in the world of men are time bound: a lease on a house expires after a set amount of time, student email accounts expire when their studies end, and some contracts such as insurance are automatically terminated on the death of the policy holder.

Our verse of interest today from Psalm 33:11 therefore offers food for thought. It reads:

"But the plans of the LORD stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations."

In this Psalm, we are provided with one sure way of staying relevant in this kingdom, both for God and in the world of men. That way is to anchor one’s self in the plans of God and His purpose. It is one way to guarantee longetivity of impact.

The timeline for the purposes of God span across generations and his plans, remain firm forever. Therefore, anyone who has found his own purpose, in light of, and aligned it with the eternal purpose of God, has found unshakable anchorage. Such men are not afraid of the floods, the storms or winds, because their assurance is of  transgenerational impact.

You can strive to make your own name, but lasting impact is to perceive what God is doing per season and per time, and pitch your tent there.
