Nevertheless, you have done well that you shared in my distress.
Some tasks can be completed by one man. Yet, there are many others which are impossible for any single individual to accomplish on their own without help. Therefore, even though the entertainment industry has presented us with many solo heroes and heroines who can take on hundreds of opponents and still triumph, often unscathed, the idea of a one-man-army is challenged.
Surprisingly, many believers have jumped unto that bandwagon by running along with the anthem: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. As a result, they have taken on burdens, loads and weights that are breaking their back.
Yet, following Saint Paul’s declaration of that very statement, another one followed which does not gain as much traction: ” you have done well to share in my distress”. There are some burdens which were never designed for one man to bear, they were to be shared.
Any one-man army is simply a defeat waiting to happen.
