WE ARE NOT ALL THE SAME !

If we are all the same, then what is the point?

That’s was the question coming to mind when I read the text for today. If God wanted it so, from our physical make up, we would all have looked the same – same skin tone and same faces. However, such is the interest of God in uniqueness that even a set identical of twins who share the same DNA have different fingerprints.

Saint Paul posed a series of questions in First Corinthians 12:29, 30: “

Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?"

Our answers to each of those questions would be “NO” and that is simply because we are not all the same! In fact, we cannot all be the same because God has not made it so. The traits and gifts we each possess have been so given such that the profiting will be unto all. So the question for each of us is: “If I am not like everybody else, then who am I? Or what do I have?

Similar to Moses standing before the Red Sea and asking God “what shall we do”, many often find themselves at crossroads when life comes knocking because they have not taken stock of the resources, gifts and traits they already possess.  The response Moses received was” what do you have in your hand?”

It is one thing to have something in hand, and another to realise what you actually have in hand. Discovery thus becomes the bedrock for action because what you don’t know you possess, you are not placed to utilize.
