DIG DEEP AND BUILD WELL

Luke 6:48 He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. When the flood came, the river crashed against that house and couldn’t shake it, because it was well built.

Two words we hear often used in close proximity are ‘quality and quantity’. In some ventures, quantity may be prioritized while in others, quality may be the corner stone. In today’s scripture, the conclusion for the house remaining firm when the floods came was “because it was well built”.

The trade off  however for “building well” is longer planning, more resources, or adopting new  approaches.  Yet, in the grand scheme of things, this trade off pays off because when the floods come later, the ‘house’ would remain standing.

This ‘house’ could refer to many things besides a physical structure: a career, marriage, business, family and so forth. These stand the test of time only when their foundations are steady and well built. Opting for a ‘quick job’ will appear to save you time and resources at the start, but the real cost comes later when the rivers comes crushing in. So dig deep, and build well.
