Proven results achieve one of two things: they either provoke a desire for further growth, or serve as a comfortable rationale to comfortably pitch your tent. In today’s Gospel, we read about Jesus’ exploits and the desire of his audience to keep him within their space.
Jesus was well aware of the implications so when the people were resisting his departure, his response, while directed at his audience; was also to remind himself that ‘my assignment goes beyond these borders’. Hence, his reply:
” And he said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for this am I sent.”(Luke 4:43)
You cannot allow yourself to become extremely comfortable in any setting such that you stop growing and lose track of your exact assignment. Certain results can become traps that cap your desire to grow.
The tents you pitch in the comfort of low tide, will be swept away when the waters returns.
