WHO HOLDS YOUR KEYS?

Matthew 16:19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

For generations, those who kept the keys to specific places were respected and people of high standing because they determined literally, who could enter or exit, and when. For some, this kind of authority can get to their head and pride becomes a centre of their dealings.

Keys have therefore always been symbolic of access and authority, and that is true across many cultures and generations. It is important then to be aware that each of us carries the keys to many doors in our lives, and so can decide who or what we give access to, and when.

Sadly, many have handed over their keys to other things: to their emotions, their pain, their misunderstandings, to men, or even to systems. Whatever you grant such access to, will jump in the driver’s seat and steer the course of your life. So a question for you to ponder on today is this “who or what steers your life?” Your answer likely represents who/what you have given your keys to.
