WHO PLEADS YOUR CASE ?

Reference text: Matthew 15:21-28

In reading today’s parable about the canaanite women whose child was oppressed, on many occasions our eyes turn towards her faith which Jesus described ‘as great’. Hence, by virtue of that great faith, her daughter was restored.

However, reading it today, the scene that caught my attention preceded the commendation of her faith. It was the subsequent plea put in by the disciples after the woman had sought help from Jesus the first time. The words of those disciples to Jesus were captured this way:

"So his disciples came to him and urged him, “Send her away, for she keeps crying out after us”(Matt 15:23).

Those words are quite significant because for someone who was seeking help, the people who had ‘the ear of the king’ were requesting for her dismissal since her plea was deemed noise making.

Going back to the old testament, in the presence of Pharoah, the only person in who could speak about, and for Joseph was the butler. If he had these disciples, his outcome would have been very different. Many things happen behind closed doors, thus, it really matters who is on your team to plead your case, especially in those rooms and around those tables you do not have a seat at.

Don’t underestimate the power of what others say about you, and for you, especially when you are not in the room.
