DAY 143

We live our lives occupied by many many thoughts: what to eat or wear, where to lay our heads, how to provide for those over whom we are in charge. Beyond this, we are concerned with how to make impact: in our community and in the world, how to keep our faith, improve ourselves, overcome challenges.
In fact, as you read this, you have a list of things parading your thoughts and prayers he list I proposed, just scraps the surface. These thoughts came to mind as I read the words of Saint Paul:
"But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God."(Acts 20:24 NLT)
Those words sounds very much like those likely to be spoken by a man drunk with wine, to have no regard for his own life. Only that Paul as he wrote in letters, was drunk with the Spirit. Regardless, his words brought to memory the lyrics of a song by Don Moen. Regardless of all the things we pursue and all that we desire to do and possess, regarding our God given assignments, our question to think about are as follows:
“When it’s all been said and done
There is just one thing that matters
Did I do my best to live for truth?
Did I live my life for you ?
When it’s all been said and done
All my treasures will mean nothing
Only what I’ve done for love’s reward
Will stand the test of time”.
Many things things appear to matter, but a closer look will reveal those that really matter. Find those and live for them.
