DAY 132
Acts 16:6-7 Now when they had gone through Phrygia and the region of Galatia, they were forbidden by the Holy Spirit to preach the word in Asia. After they had come to Mysia, they tried to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit did not permit them.
Many of us know that when God helps a man, He gives ease. His backing and power is able to make even the most treacherous paths become paths of least resistance. Access is not denied, resources abound and men come to your aid at every corner.
However, there is another dimension to the help of God, and that is the dimension of resistance. Yes, when there is a literal embargo on doing something or heading somewhere. Like we read in today’s text, the Apostles were forbidden and not permitted to enter specific territories. In effect, the door was shut and God did so Himself.
As much as we know God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we could ask or think, according to the power at work in us, God is also our father. Many of the things we crave: wealth, fame, access, spiritual gifts, influence, power; even if they are intended to be used in working for Him, He manages our access to them.
His love compels Him to keep doors closed and resist our advancements in certain directions. This He does for our very own sake, not His.
