We read a metaphor today as the Psalmist sent out a cry for help. The amplified version somehow got me all excited and smiling: “Keep me [in Your affectionate care, protect me] as the apple of Your eye; Hide me in the [protective] shadow of Your wings” (Psalm 17:8)
To this prayer, as though in response to a love letter, God replied ‘For thus says the LORD of hosts: “He sent Me after glory, to the nations which plunder you; for he who touches you touches the apple of His eye ( Zechariah 2:8)
It is often difficult to attempt to express what we mean to God in articulate speech, so sometimes, such figures of speech are necessary to help us come to terms with His lovingkindness towards us. Today therefore, I remind you of this
“You are the Apple of God’s eye and for you, His jealousy blazes hot’.
Beloved, the world we live is one in which you cannot live unassisted. There is too much going on for you to brave all the elements by yourself. That is why your affectionate spot in the heart of God gives you an advantage.
