The Psalmist declares thus
'In the secret place of Your presence You hide them from the plots and conspiracies of man; You keep them secretly in a shelter (pavilion) from the strife of tongues' (Psalm 31:21-22)
Recently, I listened to a message and heard these words “It is better to secure the presence of God in a bad situation, than to pray for that situation to go away”
That logic does not sound right at first. In fact, it does not add up! Between a problem remaining and it disappearing, I doubt anyone would opt for the former. Well, that appears to be the obvious choice until you add God as a variable to the said problem. In that case, you could think about things from this alternative reference point: ‘in the presence of God, is there anything that actually qualifies as a problem?’
Every challenge, trial or problem, pales and fades away in His presence. The secret place of His presence is thus the preferred hiding place for those who fear him. There, they are showered with His goodness and His peace. So that even though the mountains be shaken, and the hills turn to dust, in God’s presence, there is a calm that surpasses understanding. Make His presence your place your abode.
