Luke 6:3 Jesus replied, “Have you not read what David did when he and his companions were hungry?
If you have not read, heard about or encountered a particular situation before, it is safe to say your reaction or response to them are drawn purely out of your own perception of the situation. However, scattered and irregular that perception may be, it becomes the only pool of information to draw from.
In times of trouble, that isn’t helpful because we enter into the territory of trial and error – let’s apply A to see if it has an effect on B. If you apply this iteration a few times, it will unsurprisingly produce results; but to what end are those results sustainable, reliable or replicable? Applying chance or luck is thus a dangerous approach to adopt.
Life is full of many uncertainties, and many of the situations we encounter may seem new to us. But are they? We read in Ecclesiastes ‘That which has been is what will be, That which is done is what will be done, And there is nothing new under the sun ‘(1:9).
Could our perception be because we have not searched the Word to find out where it is written concerning that matter? You may not find verbatim content, but you sure are very likely to always find a Word that speaks to your exact situation. That is the written word which should be meditated on day and night.
