DAYS WITHOUT THE BRIDEGROOM

Luke 5:35 But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast in those days.

When the bridegroom is around at the wedding, the party goes on. One can revel and make merry. In their absence, nothing really happens except a lot of solemn waiting.

Life as we live it is actually a lot better when good things keep happening: when we keep chalking laurels, meeting milestones, making exploits. But as Jesus says, there are days when the bridegroom will be taken away. Therefore, you need to expect days without the bridegroom’

There will be days when you feel like the guest at a wedding without a bridegroom. Yes, there will be days when things won’t work out, times when you will be disappointed, betrayed, disrespected or unflavoured by men. We are reminded that those days will come, but we are equally reassured that we have help at each step of the way.

So even if we walk through the valley of the shadow of death – we know we never walk alone. Our bridegroom, Jesus, has already overcome.
