A SHAKE UP OF CONVICTIONS
162/365
Matthew 6:7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
Jesus speaks about what the heathen did during prayer and their reasoning ‘they think they will be heard for their many words’. Thus to them, the way to answered prayer was “with many words” and with that resolve, they run.
When a person is convinced that what they think, know and do is what produces and guarantees results, you can be certain they will hold on to it whatever the cost. No other reasoning or alternative paradigm can shift their focus, unless it is a major shake up.
Our convictions define and guide our actions, however they may not always be founded right. It is important then, as Paul speaks, that we are careful on what foundation we build and with what materials whether gold, silver, jewels, wood, hay, or straw (1 cor 3:10-12).
Many of us need a shake up of our convictions for it is only after this, will we be set on the right course.
