2 Kings 18:41-42 And Elijah said to Ahab, “Go, eat and drink, for there is the sound of a heavy rain.” So Ahab went off to eat and drink, but Elijah climbed to the top of Carmel, bent down to the ground and put his face between his knees.
All Elijah told Ahab was for him to hurry down for there was the sound of abundance of rain. Ahab was to go eat and drink. In obedience, he goes to do just that. But what does Elijah do? He climbs up the mount and goes on his knees.
So the contrast, while Elijah was praying, Ahab was eating. We shouldn’t be surprised then that Elijah could hear the sound of rain, and even outran the chariots of the King.
Beloved, don’t be deceived by the exterior facade into thinking that people arrive where they are just by sheer luck. For people with genuine results, there is a lot more that goes on behind the scenes which you may not have been exposed to.
Their sleepless nights and sacrifices, their raised hands and voices in supplication, and their hardwork. Their tears, disappointments and confusion. Be careful therefore when you are tempted to take results for granted because you have no idea what has gone on when you weren’t looking. Many have risen to where they are now not by accident.
