PERMISSION GRANTED [OR NOT]
John 14:1 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me.
I had a bit of a stressful start to the day as I could not locate my pass for getting into work. I searched for it for the most part of half an hour but within that time, found myself consciously telling myself I was not going to let that ruin my morning.
The one word from the words of Jesus that resonated with the events of this morning was ‘LET’. That is a word used to grant permission to allow something happen. We however often underestimate the place of permission and so allow things and situation to happen to us forgetting our clear ability to allow or disallow.
As an example, anger does not happen to us, we get angry. We ‘let’ it happen and so in the same vain, we can choose not to let it happen. We have the opportunity to grant permission to whatever we want into our courts and the same choice to refuse access. Those are the details Jesus reminds us of today.
