A MESSENGER WITH A SOURCE

John 13:16 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.

A courier is a messenger who transports items from one place to another. Often, they don’t need to know much detail about the source of an item, they only care about its final destination because they are paid when a delivery is completed.

However, between us and God, the determinants of this transport is different. We are messengers, but a step above that as ‘witnesses’. As witnesses, the message we carry therefore cannot be any different from the source of the message.

It is futile therefore, to do the work of the Lord without the Lord of the work. The messenger, who is a witness, must stand for the purposes and intentions of the source from which they carry a message. We are emissaries of the Gospel and messengers who cannot ignore the source of our message.

We will get it wrong sometimes, for we are still human. But let us be intentional about wanting to live out this message.
