THE ALTAR OF LOVE AWAITS

In school, before students are given questions to solve on their own, more often than not teachers work through a few examples with them. The intention behind those examples is the same as in other cases ‘to show them the process to obtain answers’

That is the very thing we see in our text today. The well known verse John 3:16 and it it’s famous words

'for God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten son. That whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life'.

There is our example for love. As He loved, so He desires us to. Perhaps, not to the point of offering a literal sacrifice of our children as He, but we have to lay something on the altar. Love and sacrifice go together, a sacrifice of time and resources, as well as the laying aside of our pride, ego and independence.

We can consider of a whole list of other things but what we ought to think about is this: ‘God gave up His son, His beloved! That is something we can’t top but we can ponder on ‘what do I have to lay on the altar of love before this God who has loved me SO?’
