John 20:13 And they say unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She saith unto them, Because they have taken away my LORD, and I know not where they have laid him.

In a short space of time, Mary is asked the same question twice consecutively. The question was ‘woman, why are you weeping?’

That is a broad question with multiple opportunities to fill in the gaps with real reason for our tears. Whether because we lost somebody, a family or friend, because we are too joyful to the point of tears, or because we are emotionally overwhelmed. all the above are reasons why we might be found weeping.

However, Mary’s answers were rather interesting. If we summarised her answers into two statements, these were the reasons for her tears:

1. I’m crying because I don’t know and
2. I’m crying because I want to know

The key that underlay her tears was her quest for knowledge about what had happened. Knowledge beloved, is the key that grants access to the doors of territories, opportunities, and even to the hearts of men.

Therefore, don’t let tears stop you in your pursuit of knowledge -instead, let it spur you on to know more and to strive towards mastery.
