The season of Easter, particularly good Friday, affords us the opportunity to do a bit of memory work, with a reflection on what got us to where we are. We journey back through the pages of scripture and in there, we see the price has been paid for each one of us.That realisation and revelation is humbling.
Today, therefore, I share these words from the Prophet Isaiah:
"But the fact is, it was our pains he carried—our disfigurements, all the things wrong with us.
We thought he brought it on himself,
that God was punishing him for his own failures.
But it was our sins that did that to him, that ripped and tore and crushed him—our sins!
He endured the breaking that made us whole.
Through his bruises we get healed.
We all have wandered off, like shepherdless sheep, scattered by our aimless striving and endless pursuits;
And God has piled all our sins, everything we’ve done wrong, on him, on him."(Isaiah 53:4-6)
These words are to remind us that a heavy price has been paid for us and for our part, we ought to commit faithfully to the walk we are on with God.
