A DELICATE BALANCE

I attended a workshop today and it was a day for some deep learning about self and others. Among the things I heard was this one statement which had quite a bit of an impact:

“You can’t bring all of your heart to your workplace all of the time, but you also can’t bring none of it at all.”

For those who find themselves in an environment or whose role requires them to be physically, mentally and emotionally present, this can be a bit of an ask. However, beyond the apparent philosophy, the message which stood out from the quote personally was this: ‘not bringing all of your heart but neither leaving it all behind alludes to the need for an accurate balancing act.’

One must find a way then to delicately manage this for it is the only way not to become overwhelmed. So the lesson is reiterated ‘You can’t bring all of your heart to your workplace all of the time, but you also can’t bring none of it at all – therefore, find the balance.
