Genesis 17:6 And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.
Abraham came from a blood line of common folk, not earthly royalty. So when God declared ‘Kings shall come from you’, that would have sounded like an idea a bit overstretched. In fact, a bit too extreme to even ponder on.
Thus, to transition from common to uncommon, father of none to father of nations, not knowing kings to becoming a royal family, there had to be fundamental and foundational changes. Changes that would be the start of a complete overhaul and transformative process to usher in this change.
The change of name was the first necessary step because in the culture within which Abram grew, names were more than just words that identified an item or person. It was more than sound, but hinted at capability and potential. Hence, God’s name ‘I AM’.
One’s mind must first BE transformed to envision that which God deposits in their heart, for
where the mind has not journeyed to, one is unlikely to arrive at in person.
