REFERENCE: Daniel chapter 3 and 6

The story of the exploits of Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego form the foundation of today’s reflection. While our focus is on the furnace experience of the last three, Daniel’s experience in the den of lions enters the frame of the conversation because of the aftermath in both cases.

After the supernatural rescue of these men, the kings involved ‘Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon and Darius the Mede’, both issued Royal decrees which exalted the name of God above every other.

Therefore I make a decree that any people, nation, or language which speaks anything amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made an ash heap; because there is no other God who can deliver like this.”(Dan 3:29)

Beloved, God used the courage of these men and their unwavering commitment to His faithfulness as a platform to honour them and His own word. The move of God in dispensations therefore finds expression through the cooperation of people. We therefore need to know who and what we stand for.
