BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU DEVALUE
Numbers 21:5 And the people spoke against God and against Moses: “Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no food and no water, and our soul loathes this worthless bread.”
As people grow, learn and experience things, their tastes might change. An example may be with regards to wearing specific colours of clothing or with eating certain kinds of foods with many factors influencing these change of preferences. However, it also presents a challenge which one cannot ignore in the very least.
Whenever a person rises to a certain pedestal or rank, it can become very easy to see everything below that rank as inferior. Israel found themselves in a similar place where the manna, which had sustained them in the dessert, became the object of absolute abhorrence. They called it ‘worthless, miserable and wretched’.
Be careful therefore beloved, when in your times of change and seasons of rising, you begin to trivialise relationships, people and previous learning experiences. When you find yourself breeching the boundaries of ‘devaluing’, take a step back and reexamine yourself through the scope of God’s lens.
