TAKE A PERMANENT SEAT
Luke 11:23 He that is not with me is against me: and he that gathereth not with me scattereth.
In a number of situations in life, there seem to be more than one option. In fact, multiple answers can fill in the blank for many of life’s questions. But in some situations, there are only two options. ‘Lordship’ is one of those areas where there is no middle ground, there can be no neutrality.
In this regard, Jesus was rather explicit ‘whoever is not with me, is against me, and whoever does not gather with me, scatters’. It’s simply like a line drawn across the ground with only two sides. One can only be on either side of it, almost like an all or nothing concept.
Beloved, you are either all surrendered to the Lordship of Christ or you are not. There is nothing like a bit of this and a bit of that: gathering today, scattering tomorrow or follow Him today but follow one’s own counsel and stubbornness the next day.
That, however, prefers to be our preferred posture, where we give off part but keep holding on to the parts we would otherwise retain control of. Like choosing our meals at a buffer. Instead, we are invited to gather with Him and to take a permanent seat on His team without switching back and forth.
