The word of God always makes for an amazing read. So today let’s do a bit of a dissection on Matthew 7:8

We might find it interesting that there is no object at end of the three action verbs ‘ask, seek and knock’. Rather we get open endings: ‘For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

Scripture does not say they receive what they ask, find what they seek or have the door they knock on opened to them. That is what our journey is sometimes. In looking for a particular answer, we might receive responses to other questions. By knocking to gain access to specific doors, we may gain entrance to alternative passages. Yet the truth remains: ‘every asking, seeking and knocking obtains a response’.

Beloved, these responses may not be exactly what we desire, but we can be certain they do play a role in getting us to where we are meant to arrive at. Perhaps, we aren’t ready to sustain the results should God answers us as we wish straight away, but as a father, He knows on what paths to guide us to ensure we arrive in due time. So trust the answers He gives, and learn the lessons that follow.
