Psalm 23:3 He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake.'

We often wonder why people go to extreme lengths to defend themselves when wrongly accused, and  why a person’s name is of great importance to them. It is because from the moment an inappropriate association becomes the default position regarding a particular name, it becomes nearly impossible to shed off.

A name is thus one initial check by which a person’s integrity is gauged. Thus, God does not lead us along right paths just because they are good for us, but because His Integrity and His name are on the line. For if He is Goodness, the God who guides, the God who protects, the God who leads; if He is healer, Almighty, El-shaddai, then every single step must reflect that ability in His name.

We can be certain then that God will not do anything that is contrary to His integrity and puts Him into disrepute. Therefore, we can safely hang on to every single word and promise from Him because each name of His reveals a dimension of himself and His commitment to living up to that name – for his name’s sake.
