BECAUSE OF WHO HOLDS TOMORROW

James 4:14 What do you know about tomorrow? How can you be so sure about your life? It is nothing more than mist that appears for only a little while before it disappears

The words ‘see you tomorrow’ or I’ll do that tomorrow express our firm certainty about tomorrow. We therefore make big plans for it as though we have been there. However, the truth is all we perceive are no where near reality. By ourselves then, we are actually walking blind, for the farthest we can see is our very next action.

So why do we seem to have such high hopes about a moment in time about which we have no clear knowledge of? How do we talk and walk as though the future was as clear as day because the truth is it’s not.

To this, we can respond thus ‘

We are not confident about or in tomorrow, rather our confidence lies in the God who knows and holds our tomorrow.’

Our dependency and delight is in the God who sits outside of time, who is, who was and who is to come. The God in whom is the entire expanse of time, till eternity.

Surely then, tomorrow can be found within that time frame and in that certainty is where our confidence lies.
