SETTING GOD ASIDE
Today, the text is in itself a message that reveals God’s heart to us, in a manner so refreshing that one only needs a paced personal reflection to realise what the word is saying to their hearts. So take your time as you read today’s text from Jeremiah 17:5-8 (MSG)
Cursed is the strong one who depends on mere humans,
Who thinks he can make it on muscle alone and sets God aside as dead weight. They are like stunted shrubs in the desert, with no hope for the future. He lives rootless and aimless in a land where nothing grows.
“But blessed is the man who trusts me, God, the woman who sticks with God. They’re like trees replanted in Eden, putting down roots near the rivers—
Never a worry through the hottest of summers, never dropping a leaf,
Serene and calm through droughts,
bearing fresh fruit every season
In all the situations then where the norm would have been desperation, fear and panic; calm and serenity is the expectation for those who trust in the Lord, those whose Trust is the Lord. That can be you.
