1 Samuel  3:10, 11 And the LORD came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for thy servant heareth. And the LORD said to Samuel, Behold, I will do a thing in Israel, at which both the ears of every one that heareth it shall tingle.

The Lord called…
And the Lord said…
Between these two statements, there was another ‘and Samuel answered ‘speak Lord for your servant heareth’.

God kept calling out to him until He knew he had his full attention and Samuel had a clear idea of who was addressing him. The weight of the message to be delivered and its place in the purposes of God for an entire nation were too great a matter to commit into the hands of an absent minded individual. That would be a disaster.

God only begun speaking when Samuel was listening and that God has not changed. So I don’t know what you’re waiting and watching out for, but its worth asking yourself if indeed you are listening for the voice of God. For if you are, you will hear Him speak. Maybe not as always as loudly as with Samuel, but the still small voice is still a very loud voice.

If you listen, you will hear God speak.
