CHANGE TACTICS

1 Samuel 1:7 This went on year after year. Whenever Hannah went up to the house of the LORD, her rival provoked her till she wept and would not eat.

We are not given a specific time scale but we read that for every single consecutive year that while Elkanah’s family went up to Shiloh to sacrifice, Peninah ridiculed Hannah for having no children of her own. What is even of greater interest to us is that for every year, Hannah responded the same way: she cried and refused to eat.

Here is the drill: when someone ‘has your number’, they know what buttons to push! They know what words to say and what actions to take to solicit a specific response from you. And it looked as though Peninah knew what to do because until Hannah altered her responses, that repetitive cycle was likely imminent.

So beloved, don’t keep responding to situations the very same way each occasion. There is a reason you get the same outcome each time. Now therefore may be good time to change tactics.
