YOU NEED OTHER PEOPLE

Football is a team sport, so while the normal thing is to see eleven players on each team for a game, the game is stopped when any one team has fewer than seven players. Without the team, the game cannot go on. There is only so far you can go when there is no one one to stand with you. The three women mentioned in the Gospel became key backers in Jesus’ ministry as we find them supporting the mission out of their substance.

Thus, regardless of what you do or who you are, you will at various points in time need people who support your purpose and mission with their time, energy and any other resource at their disposal. There are many moments when it appears being a lone wolf is perfect- you don’t have to worry about any other person. However, there will come many more moments in life when one would realise that standing alone is not an advantage, but can present significant disadvantage.

There are simply some doors you cannot open or keep shut on your own, some people you need to reach but cannot do so directly except through others. It is only in realising the place of others in our individual lives that we grow to appreciate how much their presence means. Don’t choose to go it alone, go with others.
