DAY 242 OF 365 IN 2021

1 Thessalonians 5:9 For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,

When birthday parties and anniversaries are organised for people who had no idea they were being done, surprise!!! is acceptable and very much warranted. Time and again, the warning has been sounded “the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and Paul buttresses those words today”.

However, the words “Surprise! The day of the Lord has arrived” are words that ought not sound in our ears according to the letter of Saint Paul today. We read that “we have not been destined for wrath, but to obtain salvation”. Therefore, all we require to make the cut has been afforded us.
God has given us all we need.

We know and can access the way, the truth and the life. We know in whom we have life, and in whom we can obtain salvation. All that remains is the ‘choice’ from us. What can be granted us is access- how we choose to respond depends entirely on us.

Remember, we are not destined for wrath. Yet God,who made you without you, cannot save you without you. Your yes is paramount.
