HE GAVE THE DESTINATION

DAY 171 OF 365 IN 2021

HI GAVE THE DESTINATION

Mark  4:35 And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side.

This was the background to today’s Gospel: Jesus made a statement ‘ let us cross over to the other side’. At these words, He jumped into a boat with his disciples and off they went ‘to the otherside’. However, enroute, they encountered a storm that caused the disciples to waver asking Jesus if he had no concerns if they perished.

We often see this episode through the eyes of faith, and like the disciples, we only marvel at Jesus’ ability to quiten the waves with a single command. That is OK. However, we fail to acknowledge the certainty that came with the words ‘Let us cross over to the other side’.

They could have encountered more than just a storm, but one thing was sure: “Before the journey began, the destination was set, and
Before the first step was taken, the final point had been marked out.”
Jesus’ presence in the boat was the guarantee they needed to realise that inspite of what may arise, they would arrive at their destination because it was proposed by God himself.

Beloved, when God gives the location and the order to move, all we need do is obey. The mapping is for him to do, we have the certainty of a guaranteed arrival if we hold on to His hand. We may panic at times, but He is present in the boat to offer calm.
