DAY 172 OF 365 IN 2021

A PLACE FOR HIS SOVEREIGNTY
There are stories in the news that we hear on a daily basis that are hard to believe, they literally sound as if they have been cooked up from the genius imagination of a modern writer of fiction. If Abram’s story has no place amongst these stories, then very few others warrant a place.
There is only one of two ways this account would lead us perceive the man Abram: one is as the ‘father of faith’, a title still accorded him till date or the alternative which seems to make more sense ‘a crazy man’. We won’t be wrong to categorize and classify him as one who was completely out of his mind.
He chose to set off to place he had no idea of, into dangers he had no perception of, and people he knew nothing about. And on what basis? ‘A promise’. It still beats my mind that these were the words that convinced Abram
'Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.
“I will make you into a great nation,
and I will bless you;
I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.
I will bless those who bless you,
and whoever curses you I will curse;
and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”
So Abram went, as the Lord had told him; (Genesis 12:1-4)
I know that perhaps like me, thinking about this makes no logical sense. Recently I listened to a message to the effect that ‘ if our entire walk with God made perfect sense, He wouldn’t be God’, because we would have discovered Him inside-out’. Beloved, no matter how close the walk is, there is a place reserved for God’s SOVEREIGNTY- a domain where He Is GOD – unquestioned. A place from which He speaks and His word becomes the only guarantee we need.
It appears that is the dimension of God Abram stumbled into, and he understood it. I pray we also gain insight into this facet of His, that we will develop the faith to also take Him at His word.
