CONFESSION AND CONVICTION

DAY 40 OF 365 IN 2021

Mark 7:6 Jesus answered them, “Isaiah prophesied correctly about you hypocrites, as it is written: ‘These people honour Me with their lips, but their hearts are far from Me.

When you attend a job interview, even though you apply with a salary often attached to the advert, if accepted, there is room to renegotiate this sum. At the end of negotiations, an offer will be made and it becomes your decision to say ‘deal or no deal’.

Today, it appears God is offered one of two options by us, his creation: we have offered him our lips without our hearts and to that He says ‘No deal!’ Even if we flipped the table around and offered our hearts without our lips, his answer would remain unchanged ‘No deal’. Some demanding father we have here, but that is just who He is: He wants both our heart and our lips.

Paul wrote in his letter to the Romans ‘Romans 10:10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. Beloved, here is the drill: God does not want either your heart or your lips, He wants both because your confession and conviction, for both are necessary.
