Reference: Micah 5:1-4

Micah 2:4 But you, Bethlehem, David’s Country, the runt of the litter—From you will come the leader who will shepherd-rule Israel (MSG)

“In terms of wealth or economic influence, you are well below par, and with regards to social status or influence; you don’t even make the shortlist. On a list of recognisable entities and individuals, in no way does your name make it unto the list – you simply don’t make the cut. So let me put this in easier words for you: “you are too far down the food chain to expect mention in the upper echelons”.

The situation above was the exact story of Bethlehem Ephrata. In spite of this, God seems oblivious of this reality since He chooses to raise up a ruler from their land. Consequently, a question we might be wondering is answered : ‘is it because God did not know about or He just chose to ignore? The latter proves accurate- God is aware but still makes the decision to elevate from within that “weak” circle as society claims.

There would be no room for transition otherwise because in the ways of man, associations of what others can become and perceptions of who and what they have, are fixed and set in stone. Left in the hands of man alone therefore, the powerful will keep rising and the weak stay down. The recognised will remain elevated while the unrecognised stay deflated.

But God does not see in the same manner – He can spot potential even from the depths of miry clay. He can perceive greatness and glitter even from the most unpolished of gems.

Sweetheart let’s not allow people to determine our value because in the eyes of God, we are priceless, built for excellence and exploits.
