Reference : 2 Samuel 7 :1-5,8-12
The message coming to me today is ‘2020 will be an exciting year’. Thus, as I wondered exactly how that would be, I read the text for the day. In it, God makes some statements to King David which I believe are the foundation and basis for getting excited about the new year we will be ushered into.
He tells Him:
And I’m going to set aside a place for my people Israel and plant them there so they’ll have their own home and not be knocked around any more. Nor will evil men afflict you as they always have, even during the days I set judges over my people Israel. Finally, I’m going to give you peace from all your enemies.(2 Sam 7:10-11 msg)
The key was ‘God deciding to create exceptions beyond the normal state of affairs’. While Israel kept receiving threats and attacks in the era of the judges, in the time of David, God promised rest from all their enemies. However, that rest also came with continuous expansion, establishment and a promise to sustain his throne.
In effect, He made David an exceptional situation with a unique outcome.
That my dear is what God will do for us in the coming year so we can get excited about that.
We can expect exception.
