Psalm 80:3 Restore us, O God; make your face shine on us, that we may be saved.
Today’s Psalm cast my mind back to the way in which God suggested that the children of Israel be blessed in Numbers 6:25: ‘The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee. So I asked: what it was about a face shining on an object that it bears any relevance?
Besides the internal construct of DNA which uniquely identifies a person, another outward feature is a person’s face and that is the primary physical option used to distinguish one person from the other. By extrapolation therefore, God’s face will identify Him uniquely. When light so shines on any object, it is either reflected or absorbed. In the former, another outcome results- there is enhanced visibility.
When the light from a projector hits a suitable surface, we see the image of what is projected. Therefore, when the face of God, the identity of God, shines on anyone; their visibility is enhanced. In whatever venture or endeavour, they become the centre of attention and magnets that draw others in. Sweetheart, the face of God projected unto anyone brings with it uncommon favour, unimagined exploits and immeasurable expansion.
So today, that is my prayer for you- ‘May the Lord let his face shine upon’
Beloved, only present yourself for God will always provide the light.
