Reference text: John 11:19-27
John 11:21 Then Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.
Sometimes, we point fingers at those who might have some culpability in a certain venture: ‘if they had been around, things may not have turned out the way they did, they could have turned out differently’. But Martha was not one very much into the issue of probabilities, she told Jesus straight on ‘had you been here, my brother would still be alive’.
However, the actual facts was this: ‘Jesus had not been around and Lazarus was dead’. On this account, Martha would have had good reason to be disappointed in, even angry at Jesus. Even then,
her attitude was not one of a person laying blame on Jesus’ door, it was rather an acknowledgment that HIS PRESENCE would have made a big difference to how things turned out.
My dear, I don’t know what the expected outcome your current venture is, but have you wondered how much different and better things would be if you had Jesus around? He stands at the door knocking; waiting to grace your home and your situation with His presence. When Jesus arrived at the home of Mary and Martha, although He had not been around, the outcome His presence was meant to have was achieved because Lazarus rose from the dead – he lived.
So in case you had taken your eyes off the stage, it is time to look back and to remember that
God is never late and His presence in any situation always makes a huge difference.
