Luke 9:9 And Herod said, John have I beheaded: but who is this, of whom I hear such things? And he desired to see him.
It became apparent reading the Gospel that the real reason Herod sought to see Jesus was simply to satisfy his curiosity. He had received information from various sources which appeared to contradict each other. In other words, putting all the information he had together made no sense. Hence, Herod’s effort to see Jesus, in the very least, was to clarify the information he had received.
For many of us, God will draw us via a ‘burning bush’. Not literally as with Moses, but we may find ourselvesĀ wandering into situations or circumstances that peak our interest to want to know more. Whether this interest is on the knowledge of the character of God, His will, ways or His person, or of a system or process.
Even when it means going up a mountain or going through periods of discomfort to encounter a burning bush, God will allow it provided it contributes to our equipping and growth. Because when curiosity dies, so does the drive to go further, dive deeper and do more.
