Our priorities go a long way to reveal our true values. When Jesus said “You cannot serve both God and mammon”, that was the underlying revelation. There is truly nothing like ‘perfectly divided allegiance’ , nothing like a heart or focus split right down the middle 50/50. Sooner rather than later, there will be a pulling or swing in a particular direction because one side will begin to assert dominance.
Treasure as used in today’s text, includes wealth and possessions, but surely it extends beyond both. It also encompasses opportunities, relationships, affections, time, talent, ambition, and achievement.
Ultimately then, your true priorities will reveal where you lean. So where lies your treasure?
