DIFFERENT SEASONS IN LIFE

John 16:20 Truly, truly I say to you that you will weep and mourn, but the world will rejoice; you will grieve, but your grief will be turned into joy!

Today’s verse in context was Jesus seemingly preparing his disciples for his departure. However, the focus of our discourse today lies in the first part of the words captured in this verse which can be paraphrased as “while you weep and mourn, the world will rejoice”.

When you look around your world, you will notice the contrasts as captured in Ecclesiastes chapter 3: While some are in mourning, others rejoice, while others may have lost, others gain; while some are planting, others are already harvesting.

Put it this way, not everyone is in the same season of life at the same time, and the actions and demands of each season call for a unique set of skills. You therefore have to discern what season you are in so that you can appropriate your resources accordingly. If you do nothing in the seasons when effort is required, your seasons of rest will leave you wanting.
