DAY 41

Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was more cunning than any animal of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, “Has God really said, ‘You shall not eat from any tree of the garden’?
What the word of God can do is not only dependent on the inherent power it carries, that is none debatable. It also hinges on the disposition of the one who receives it. In our text today, the setting is Eden, the dialogue between the serpent and the woman. After their brief encounter, it appeared as though everything God said no longer mattered.
The situation went from “God said we shall not eat or touch it” through to “Did God really say” and eventually arrived at “she took of the fruit, ate it and gave some to her husband”.
Four dimensions have to be fulfilled if any word from God is to profit us- whether it is a promise, a prophesy or even a warning. We must first HEAR it, then BELIEVE it, then RECEIVE it and then ENGAGE it. Until we make our way to the very end of this chain, no fruits will be born out of those words and they will be of none effect in our lives.
We may have heard many things over many years in our Christian walk, yet how many of those have we follow through to the point of engagement? If we did, our results will very likely be different.
