DAY 34

Mark 6:24 And she went forth, and said unto her mother, What shall I ask? And she said, The head of John the Baptist.
What do you want?
Perhaps, that seems a bit too vague so let me rephrase it:
‘What do you want out of life?’
This is one of the simplest questions we might be asked, but don’t be deceived, it is one with rather complicated answers. The simple truth is many don’t even know what they want. They cannot stand with certainty to define the parameters of their expectations: from God, their relationships, from their careers and so forth. Everything seems so hazy.
When the daughter of Herodias won favour with Herod and could ask for as much as half the kingdom, she rushed to her mother to inquire ” What shall I ask?” (Mk 6:24). She was oblivious to what she herself wanted or perhaps, she was yet to paint that picture. Therefore, Herodias took advantage of her daughters platform to request what she herself wanted- the head of John the Baptist. Why? Because she knew what she wanted in that instance.
There are a few considerations aimed at proding our desire to map out what it is we want because the alternative of not knowing poses significant challenges. If you don’t know what you want, everything that looks good may appear to be what you want. Every destination could seem to be where you ought to be and every action you take may appear to be the very best.
Beloved, we must mature to the point of knowing because it is too much of a risk to live without knowing what you want out of living.
