Matthew 2:19 But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeareth in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, 

Every warning that was issued to Joseph concerning Jesus came in a dream, every single time. On 4 different occasions: from the advise to stay with Mary, flee with her and the infant Jesus to Egypt, the charge to return to Israel and even to change cities to Galilee.

We would be wrong to think that was the only means of communication available to God because that isn’t. Between God and Joseph, this means of communication had been tried and tested, and in addition, the response of Joseph to prompts received in this manner had always been immediate. There had never been a questioning.

In effect, his dream life seemed to have become the dedicated and trusted medium through which secrets could be communicated to Him. He in turn, knew the voice of God through that medium. Just as overtime, you can recognise a voice without any visual prompts, through familiarity, you gain mastery to discern the voice of God from many. Prompt acknowledgement let’s God know ‘you are receptive in this way’ and He will stay in touch.

For each of us, the communications of God with our spirit man differs, it is therefore important to identify how the voice of God sounds loudest to you, because that is the surest way to know when He is communicating to you. Because His sheep know His voice and they listen to Him.
