Luke 19:42 saying, “If [only] you had known on this day [of salvation], even you, the things which make for peace [and on which peace depends]! But now they have been hidden from your eyes.

There are a lot ways that God speaks to us. In the absence of the loud and audible voice, the silent witness within is a way. On a personal level, I  know that the absence of peace regarding any matter is an indication that some attention is required.

There are therefore things that I would trade off for the presence of Peace of mind and heart. That is personal, but upon reading the words of Gospel today, I thought about the question Jesus asked and so pose it to you too ‘do you know what makes for peace?’

For many, their peace lies in the abundance of their possessions and the security of what they have. Well and good, but when those possessions are threatened, so will their peace. That is why Jesus was quick to emphasise ‘Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid (John 14:27)”

The thing that makes for peace then beloved, is a confident assurance in the word of God, because in it your peace is firmly assured.
