DO YOU MEET THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENT?

HAVE

Matthew 22:11-12 But when the king came in to see the guests, he noticed a man there who was not wearing wedding clothes. He asked, ‘How did you get in here without wedding clothes, friend’ The man was speechless.

These days, wedding invitations come furnished with all the necessary information: location, colour scheme  and RSVP.  Thus, anyone who receives such an invitation should have the information above prior to accepting. It is more like the terms and conditions in a contract: once you accept, it means you agree to abide by them however ridiculous they may be.

In our text today, the guests were invited to a wedding and other than their attendance, the minimum requirement would have been to be in an appropriate attire. This may often not be stated explicitly, but it is expected that one discerns the occasion and presents themselves dressed accordingly.

Here are a few things to ponder on:
the minimum requirement for a walk in the power of God is a relationship with Him, the minimum requirement for certain jobs is a degree in an appropriate field, and the minimum requirement for securing a mortgage is to have the appropriate deposit. In current times, the minimum criteria for entering certain buildings is to wear a face mask.

There are minimum criteria for knowledge, skill, technique, and  relationship that have to be satisfied for every venture. We can get angry at the king for throwing out the guest inappropriately dressed, but there is a lesson here for us. In all matters, before you head off angry that all things have conspired against you to ensure you fail, on your part, have you met the minimum requirements?
