Matthew 12:50 For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.

Whoever find themselves in partnership with Christ, qualifies for a slot on His family tree. For Him, there was an extrapolation of family lines beyond blood- obedience was also a necessary ingredient.

Obedience because no one likes to bend their will to another. We each have what we want to do, where we want to go and when. We even have justifiable reasons as to why we want to follow a specific course of action.

To do the will of God then is thus effectively relinquishing one’s control entirely to Him. It is a decision to take a supporting role and allow the author of life to dictate the path and the pace of our lives. It is in absolute and unbending obedience that the power and glory of God finds its ultimate expression any life.
