SHAKE IT OFF AND PRESS ON

SHAKE IT OFF AND PRESS ON

182/365

Matthew 10:14 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.

There are things we pick up consciously with some effort, while others come with significant passivity. Like when a neighbour plays a particular sound loud enough all through the day, before you know it, it becomes registered and you find yourself singing along. Although it may not have been directed at you, it found its way to you nonetheless.

No one tells dust to cling to their feet, but walking makes it possible. So, just because you could not give, does not mean you were not given anything, and just because you did not take intentionally, does not mean nothing tagged along”.  Jesus was letting us know that we can unconsciously pick up things from places and people we do not necessarily intend do.

When we identify such, let us shake it off and press on ahead.
